Abstract
A technique is described which combines the so-called Method of Moments with successive overrelaxation to compute efficiently electrostatic potentials in a region of interest which is relatively small compared with the volume occupied by the field-forming electrode system. The method is particularly suitable for electron optics systems in which space-charge forces arc negligible, but it is shown that oven when space charge is included the new method can still have considerable advantage. Keywords
