Abstract
A semiempirical correction term, proportional to the "seniority operator" , is introduced into the Slater formulas for the configurations of the second spectra of V, Cr, and Fe. The agreement with the experimental data, obtained by least squares, is improved by about 20%. The physical meaning of this correction is discussed.
