A polymeric membrane electrode selective to cholate and based on benzyldimethylcetylammonium cholate has been prepared, characterised and applied to the determination of cholic acids in real matrices. The results are compared with those obtained by a previously described liquid membrane sensor, which was based on the same exchanger in a solution of decan-1-ol.
