Abstract
The low energy total neutron cross section of Pu241 has been measured from 0.02 ev to 2 kev using the Materials Testing Reactor (MTR) fast chopper. Curves of the total cross section are given and pronounced asymmetries are observed in several of the resonances below 12 ev. An estimate of the neutron strength function obtained from the average cross section in the kev energy region is (0.85 ± 0.15) × 10−4.Keywords
