Abstract
Uroflowmetry was performed before and 5 yr after elective prostatectomy for benign hypertrophy in 54 patients. A significant improvement in voiding ability was retained during this period, while hesitancy and a poor stream were the symptoms most often eradicated. A slow decrease in flow rate was observed during the first 5 yr postoperatively in 37 patients who had undergone studies 4 mo. after the operation. If this trend were to continue flow rates would return to preoperative levels 24-30 yr after prostatectomy. This publication has 14 references indexed in Scilit:
