Abstract
Four recommendations regarding the performance of international packet-switched services are presented. The recommendations identify apportionment boundaries and reference events to be used in international packet-switched service performance description. They also define speed, accuracy, dependability, and availability parameters applicable to end-to-end virtual connections and their component sections, and they specify, for both national and international portions of a virtual connection, the recommended worst-case values for each performance parameter. The author anticipates that these performance parameters and values will be widely used in the planning and operation of packet-switched services supporting international data communications. Keywords
