Possibilities for the observation of gap solitons in waveguide geometries

Abstract
Waveguides are the most promising geometry for use in observing gap solitons, mainly because of the possibility of fabricating long, uniform grating structures. The suitability of two fabrication methods is compared, and a criterion for experimental observation is presented. We conclude that it should be possible to observe gap solitons by using existing waveguide technology.Keywords
