Abstract
Cytochrome c in presence of cytochrome oxidase preps. acted as a carrier and brought about the aerobic oxidation of glucose by the glucose dehydrogenase system. The cytochrome oxidase preps., by themselves, induced some oxidation of glucose in the presence of the dehydrogenase system. This was apparently due to the other carriers, cyto-chromes a and b, present in the oxidase preps. In acting as a carrier in this oxidation cytochrome c was not directly reduced by the dehydrogenase-coenzyme system but required for its reduction an additional factor which was present in heart muscle and in the cytochrome oxidase preps. made from heart muscle. This publication has 10 references indexed in Scilit:
