The Effect of Thyroprotein on the Growth and Carcass Composition of Swine

Abstract
Significantly increased (P <.05) growth rate was obtained by the feeding of thyroprotein at levels of 0.0088 percent, 0.0132 percent, and 0.0176 per cent of the ration of growing, fattening swine. Less feed per unit of gain was required by all animals receiving thyro protein in their ration. When compared on the same age basis, hogs receiving thyroprotein had a higher percentage of fat and lower percentages of moisture, protein, and mineral matter than animals receiving no thyroprotein.
