Abstract
The Wilson‐Wells‐Penner‐Weber method of determining absorption‐band intensities in the infrared has been critically reviewed. This technique has been used to redetermine the intensity of the 670 cm—1 band system of carbon dioxide. The present result, A=241 cm—1/cm atmos at STP agrees well with the curve‐of‐growth value, A=240 cm—1/cm atmos at STP and demonstrates that, with proper precautions, both methods are capable of producing reliable intensity data. Keywords
