Abstract
Forty-two pigeons were freed of natural Trichomonas gallinae infections by the oral administration of either metronidazole or dimetridazole at 50 mg/kg of body weight daily for 5 days. Infections were suppressed in 61 other birds by giving 0.05% dimetridazole in the drinking water for 3 to 6 days. Nihydrazone, which had limited trichomonicidal activity, was toxic to pigeons at a level of 50 mg/kg/day.
