Effect of Fecal Bacterial Activity on Rectal Temperature of Man

Abstract
Succinylsulfathiazole given orally to 5 normal young men for a period of 7 days caused a marked reduction in the number of bacteria present in their feces. No significant changes in the body temp. of these subjects were observed when the values obtained before, during and following drug admn. were compared. Factors involved in determining the level of the rectal temp. at any given time are discussed.
