Oligomeric Tetrathiafulvalenes: Stable Caesium Tetrathiafulvalene- and 1,3-Dithiole-2-thionethiolates as Intermediates in the Synthesis of Pentakis(tetrathiafulvalenes)

Abstract

Synthesis of stable caesium salts of tetrathiafulvalene- and 1,3-dithiole-2-thionethiolates and their reaction with tetrakis(iodoalkylthio)tetrathiafulvalene to produce pentakis(tetrathiafulvalenes) is presented. X-ray structure of the caesium salt of 1,3-dithiole-2-thione-5-methoxycarbonyl-4-thiolate reveals a highly conjugated system.
