Resonances in the photo dissociation continuum of diatomic molecules

Abstract
The Franck-Condon factors associated with the dissociative electronic spectrum of diatomic molecules are evaluated for the case of a bound potential curve for the upper electronic state. It is demonstrated that parallel to the phenomena of resonances in scattering from a potential that includes an attractive part, a structure may appear in the photodissociation continuum. Such resonances may be observed in the Schumann-Runge continuum of the oxygen molecule.
