Abstract
Kinetic and equilibrium measurements have been made on the exchange of one arylacetylene for another of different structure in the compounds bis-triphenylphosphineacetylene-platinum (0). The rate of exchange is proportional to the concentration of the complex but is independent of the reagent. The complexes are stabilized by electron-withdrawing groups in the acetylene ligand. A mechanism for the reactions is proposed in which an intermediate Pt(Ph3)2 is formed which has a significant stability. Keywords
