Antifungal Phytoalexins in Phaseolus aureus Roxb

Abstract
Eight phytoalexins have been isolated from Phaseolus aureus (mung bean) seedlings after treatment with aqueous CuCl2. These compounds include three isoflavones: genistein, 2′-hydroxygenistein and a compound tentatively identified as 2,3-dehydrokievitone, four isoflavanones: dalbergioidin, kievitone, cyclokievitone and 5-deoxykievitone, and the pterocarpan phaseollidin. The antifungal activities against Cladosporium cucumerinum were determined.
