Systematic spectrophotometric measurements of the auroral spectrum in the (S-1) region and of the O I (5577) line involving digital recording and computer averaging techniques, and coupled with reliable background-airglow subtraction, have led to brightness determinations of the O I (8446) line and O2 At (0–1), N2 1PG, and [Formula: see text] M bands in agreement with current predictions.
