Abstract
Mutant origin and sex-linkoid method of inheritance of the recessive traits, wrinkled and reduced wings, are presented. Wrinkled, preventing normal expansion of wings, appears due to inability to shed pupal membrane. It overlaps somewhat with type. Reduced causes wings, especially primaries, to be much shortened and veins reduced or fused. Wrinkled or reduced [female] crossed with type [male] produce wrinkled or reduced [male] respectively and type [female] and "patroclinous" [male] Reduced [female] crossed with wrinkled [male] produce reduced [male] and type [female] and "patroclinous" [male]. Wrinkled and reduced are genetically independent of each other, of orange locus (chromosome I) and of main factor for defect in vein r4 (chromosome II).
