Abstract
Several abnormal configurations of the 1st and 2nd meiotic divisions were observed in a haploid cultivated oat, Kanota variety of Ayena byzantina. The seed fertility of the haploid plant was 1.2% in open-pollination and 11.7% in an artifical pollination with the pollen of normal Kanota. It is of interest that the seed fertility of the haploid was higher than that of the pentaploid interspecific hybrids of Avena.
