URINARY CONVERSION PRODUCTS OF 16-EPIESTRIOL-16-C14IN THE DOMESTIC FOWL

Abstract
16-Epiestriol-16-C14was injected intravenously into two non-laying hens. The urine and the feces for succeeding days were collected separately and estrogen extracts thereof were prepared by use of enzymic hydrolysis. The urine contained two major radioactive products. The two major products were identified as 16-epiestriol-16-C14and 16-oxoestradiol-17β-16-C14. The two minor radioactive products were not identified but neither was estriol or 17-epiestriol or 16β-hydroxyestrone. The results are discussed in relation to the view that 16-epiestriol is an important estrogen conversion product in the fowl.Keywords
