Effect of Adrenal Hormone Overdosage on Bacterial Removal by the Splanchnic Viscera.

Abstract
Chronic admn. of cortisone had no effect on the splanchnic removal of Micrococcus pyogenes var. aureus. There was a questionable increase in removal rate after acute admn. The increased incidence of bacteremia in cortisone-treated animals may be due to failure of local defense mechanisms.
