Abstract
Chronic admn. of cortisone had no effect on the splanchnic removal of Micrococcus pyogenes var. aureus. There was a questionable increase in removal rate after acute admn. The increased incidence of bacteremia in cortisone-treated animals may be due to failure of local defense mechanisms.Keywords
