Reaction Time to Cutaneous Onset and Offset Stimulation

Abstract

Reaction times were obtained to the onset and the offset of mechanical cutaneous stimuli using two amplitudes of skin deformation. In all cases, the median onset RTs were faster than the offset RTs. These differences are attributed to differential rates of movement of the skin following the onset or offset of the stimulus.
