Predation and the Defensive Behavior of Green Iguanas (Reptilia, Lacertilia, Iguanidae)

Abstract
Green iguanas (Iguana iguana) are eaten by crocodiles, basilisk lizards, snakes, birds and mammals. Among a variety of known or suspected antipredator tactics, cryptic coloration and behavior enhanced by group responses are especially important. This strategy is consistent with the physiological capabilities and unusual ecological role of iguanas.
