Effects of CS-US interval length upon avoidance responding.

Abstract
Groups of rats learned an avoidance response with CS-US intervals of 2, 4, 6, 8, or 10 sec. Trials to criterion in acquisition was inversely related to the length of the interval. Acqusition and extinction latencies were directly related to CS-US interval. The positive relationship between interval and avoidance response is largely accounted for by opportunity to respond.
