Abstract
It is assumed that the photon and graviton form factors are dominated by the vector and tensor mesons, which leads to the result that the vector- and tensor-meson couplings are renormalized in the lowest order of the -symmetry-breaking interaction, but in a definite way. This result is different from the one obtained by Gatto and Ademollo, where vector currents are unrenormalized. The consequences of this assumption for the weak interaction, universality of meson couplings, and meson-baryon cross sections are discussed. The results are compared with experimental widths, and the agreement is found to be good.
