Morphology of the Tasman sea floor

Abstract
As a result of the r.v. Oceanographer's 1967 and m.v. Taranui's 1968 cruises, new bathymetric information has been obtained in the Tasman Sea. The new data, together with Conolly's (1969) interpretation of Tasman Sea floor morphology, support hypotheses on Tasman Basin evolution in which the Dampier Ridge is considered an extinct mid-ocean ridge in the central Tasman Basin. Emphasis is placed on the morphology of the ridge, of the Tasmantid and Lord Howe Island chains of seamounts, and of Lord Howe Rise.
