Abstract
The spatial dependence of the electron density polarization per spin , produced by a magnetic ion in a nonmagnetic host, has been calculated in terms of the Friedel-Anderson model. The numerical results are found to be rather insensitive to variations of the model parameters describing the virtual bound state provided self-consistency is maintained. Our numerical results differ considerably, even in sign, from the well-known asymptotic form at first-nearest-neighbor distances and the asymptotic form is not adequate until . An interpolation formula, incorporating lowest-order preasymptotic corrections, has also been given.
