Abstract
Although the quantity of silage made in the United Kingdom has increased in recent years, lack of an understanding of the factors associated with the ensiling process has led often to the production of material of reduced nutritive value. Recent research, reviewed here, has shown ways in which silage making may be improved and higher levels of animal production from silage achieved. Keywords
