Abstract
Bis(2-pyridinethiolato)tin(II), a stable stannylene, effects oxidative addition to α-dicarbonyl compounds to generate tin(IV) enediolates, which in turn react with aldehydes to give α,β-dihydroxyketones in good yields with moderate diastereoselectivities. Keywords
