Abstract
The determination of two-dimensional magnetic flux distributions in electrical machines and apparatus such as motors, generators and transformers usually involves regions of air, other non-magnetic materials and magnetic materials. The effect of such material inhomogeneity on the structure of the matrices which numerically model the physical problem, and the effect of that structure on the convergence of iterative schemes for the solution of the simultaneous equations, is examined in this paper. A block iterative procedure which takes advantage of the matrix structure resulting from the inhomogeneity is described. Keywords
