Serial Liver-Function and Blood Studies in Patients Receiving Chlorpromazine

Abstract

SIGNS of hepatic dysfunction have been observed in patients treated with chlorpromazine. There have been no reported attempts to follow, systematically, the changes in liver-function tests in patients receiving chlorpromazine, nor have there been reports of serial studies concerning hematologic changes. The literature on chlorpromazine-induced liver injury has recently been reviewed by Movitt et al.¹ We therefore undertook serial studies to determine the course of changes in the liver function and in the blood morphology of patients treated with chlorpromazine.
