Absorption spectra of dimer cations. Part 1.—Olefins

Abstract
The absorption spectra of γ-irradiated glasses at 77 K containing cyclohexene, butadiene and penta-1,3-diene have been studied. The effects of warming and recooling and of concentration show that the bands can be assigned to monomeric and dimeric radical cations (M+ and M+ 2). Assignments of the corresponding spectra of a number of olefins obtained by other workers are discussed.
