Abstract
A discrepancy in the values for the clearance of uric acid previously obtained by others and those currently observed indicated that diodrast increases uric acid excretion. Data show that diodrast does increase uric acid excretion. The subjects were normal [female][female] in the early puerperium. They were in the postabsorptive state. To obtain control values clearances were detd. for 2 consecutive 30 min. periods. On the following day clearances were detd. in an identical fashion on specimens obtained from the same subjects after 5 ml. of 35% diodrast was administered at the beginning of each 30 min. period. The control uric acid clearances averaged approx. 15 ml./min./ 1.73 sq. m.; those after diodrast 50 ml./min. This increase in clearance is due to an increase in the amt. of uric acid excreted. Urea clearances and the rate of excretion of creatinine were normal in both the control and exptl. periods. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
