Abstract
The phonocardiograms of 20 cases of aortic stenosis are analyzed. The systolic murmur over the aortic and mitral areas is of characteristic shape. The murmur is small at first, rising to a peak in midsystole and then decreasing so that it is small or absent before the 2d sound. In mitral valve disease the systolic murmur tends to fill systole uniformly or is late systolic. In pulmonary stenosis the systolic murmur usually extends to the 2d sound. Keywords
