Abstract
It is shown that the time lag for diffusion through a slab of inhomogeneous material can be expressed in terms of the steady‐state concentration distribution. This result is used to calculate the time lag in a laminated slab and to obtain bounds on the time lag in slabs with arbitrary inhomogeneities. Keywords
