Illness Due to Commercially Prepared Egg and Olive Sandwiches Contaminated by a Probable Carrier of Hemolytic Staphylococcus aureus

Abstract

59 cases of illness from food occurred in San Francisco, June to Oct., 1939. Investigation indicated the causative food to be commercially prepared minced egg and olive sandwiches. A suspected carrier of hemolytic Staphylococcus aureus was discovered among the employees who prepared the food.
