Abstract
A method is given for the calculation of patterns of a microwave antenna in a hollow dielectric wedge. Calculations are based on induction and equivalence theorems, involve ray tracing, and use measured nearfield data. Calculations are compared with measurements for an electromagnetic horn antenna approximately two wavelengths in aperture. Some evidence is presented for the existence of a wave scattered by the vertex of the wedge. It is found empirically that this wave is an order of magnitude smaller in amplitude than waves transmitted directly through the wedge walls.
