Mixing and Dispersion Studies in San Francisco Bay

Abstract
Studies conducted in the prototype and in the Corps of Engineers' hydraulic model of San Francisco Bay verified the model's ability to simulate natural mixing and dispersion processes as well as stages, velocities, and salinities. The model was accordingly used to predict the effects on the receiving water of discharges of agricultural drainage. Results from model tests supplied data on conservative and nonconservative constituent distribution patterns resulting from variation in inflow, discharging over different time periods, and discharging at four alternative locations.
