Abstract
Twelve patients about to undergo bronchoscopy gargled with 10 cc. of a 4% soln. of Pyribenzamine for 2 min. and then expectorated the drug; this appln. was repeated after a short rest. The same soln. was then applied to the laryngeal region and down into the trachea. In only 2 patients was anesthesia satisfactory; all others required supplementary local anesthesia. Pyribenzamine soln. caused a burning sensation in the mouth and neck and increased salivation. Toxic reactions occurred in 2 patients. Keywords
