THE MASSIVE SPIN–TWO FIELD

Abstract

The energy of the free massive spin-two field is exhibited as a manifestly positive-definite function of its canonical variables. The indefiniteness of the form recently obtained by Adler is shown to be only apparent in nature. A summary of the canonical reduction of the theory is given in the Appendix.
