Abstract
The ingestion of CaCO3, A1PO4, or A1(OH)3, in the quantities used in the treatment of peptic ulcer, places no appreciable burden on the processes of acid-base metabolism. The necessary adjustments of acid-base excretion are relatively small and are accomplished with a remarkable precisio''n. The electrolyte constitution of the blood plasma is not disturbed.
