Abstract
The fermentation changes in oral lactobacilli, consisting of an acquisition of the ability to ferment sorbitol and mannitol, which were originally described by Harrison, occur not only in cultures isolated in the usual manner, but also in cultures derived from single cells. The frequency of the change is directly associated with washing of the organisms in 0.85% NaCl soln. Keywords
