ACTIVE IMMUNIZATION AGAINST TETANUS BY VACCINATION WITH TETANUS TOXOID Circular Letter No. 34 Office of the Surgeon General Washington The following instructions will govern the administration of tetanus toxoid to military personnel in situations in which the use of this agent is specifically authorized by the War Department: 1. Personnel to Be Vaccinated.— When authorized by the War Department, all military personnel on active duty will be vaccinated and revaccinated with tetanus toxoid as prescribed. Civilian employees subject to field service with the Army, including those on transports and in the mine planter service, dependents of military personnel and others residing at military stations may be vaccinated similarly against tetanus when such vaccination is requested by them.
