The finding of papilloma virus in verruca plana-like lesions from a patient with epidermodysplasia verruciformis (EV) by means of electron microscopy has been confirmed in our patient. It has been suggested that EV is a genodermatosis characterized by reduced resistance to infection by the wart virus. Because of the frequent occurrence of skin cancer in patients with EV, it is possible that the common wart virus may be a carcinogenic agent in genetically predisposed patients.
