Abstract
An attempt was made to produce incomplete obstruction of the ureter by beta irradiation in male, Sprague-Dawley rats. A strontium applicator (100 mc) was placed against the ureter and intravenous pyelogramic and histologic examination were carried out. In the control group, pressure against the ureter induced a transient hydronephrosis which subsided after seven days. Exposure of ureter to 700 rep produced hydronephrotic changes lasting 4 weeks. A sustaining (lasting 12 weeks), uniform degree of hydronephrosis developed in rats receiving 1500 rep. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
