Abstract
The values obtained by turbidimetric and viscosimetric detns. of hyaluronic acid depend upon the state of polymerization of the substrate and are always avg. values. Longer chains are degraded faster than shorter molecules, which fact is used for the detn. of the degree of polymerization. These facts are of no importance for the detn. of hyaluronidase activity, because results are relative in respect to a standard enzyme prepn. A simple method for the latter procedure using blood sugar pipetes is given.
