Abstract
To determine whether lack of O2 under conditions of waterlogging in soils could be compensated for by the application of nitrate fertilizer, prelim, tests were made with grapefruit and avocado seedlings grown in 3-gallon pots. In 3 successive tests, nitrate neither delayed nor prevented the ill effects of water-logging; with the avocados nitrate was sometimes harmful and (NH4)2SO4 was harmful to both the avocados and the grapefruit.
