Abstract
Combs of immature male chicks treated with estradiol failed to develop the adult structure and to show deposition of the metachromatic interstitial ground substance normally seen. Estradiol also failed to diminish the comb growth response produced by testosterone and gonado-trophins, indicating that estrogenic inhibition of comb growth is dependent on the suppression of normal gonadotrophin secretion in the adenohypophysis. Keywords
