Abstract
Expts. are descr. which show a close biochemical relationship between the electric organs of Raia clavata, muscular tissue in general, and the electric organs of Torpedo marmorata. The relatively small physiological activity of the electric organ of Raia appears to be attributable to the presence in it of a large proportion of inert material in the form of connective tissue, and there is at present no reason to suppose that the material of the disk itself is any less efficient than that of Torpedo.
