Abstract
The hereditary type of angioneurotic edema is discussed and differentiated from the non-familial variety. Because of the serious consequences attached to the former type, emphasis is placed on the prompt emergency treatment required in cases where the glottis or larynx becomes involved. Numerous deaths from edema of the glottis have been reported in several members of a family. A review of the literature reveals many such instances. This article adds another family of 6 affected members in 4 generations with a report of 2 cases, one of whom died of edema of the glottis.
